I created a list of conversation starting questions for students while to use while at their service learning agency.
I created a resources list for older adults and families at my service learning agency.
What I like most about this experience was volunteering in a hospital setting and providing a listening ear and healing to vulnerable patients. I also enjoyed creating content for future service learning students and servicing my community. The most challenging part of this experience was completing a portion of my service learning hours virtually due to COVID-19. I enjoys being hands on and interacting with the patience, therefore it was hard for me to serve virtually. However, I was able to adapt to the changes and overcome this challenge, My key takeaway from this experience was the significance of social and mental support to patients while they are hospitalized. In addition, I this service learning experience provide me with professional and ethical development that is beneficial to my future practices in social work.
I created a video about Healing Words Orientation (A.I.D.E.T).
I created a document with crossword, word search puzzles and activities for Healing Word's patients.
I created a handout about self-care and volunteering as a student.
I created a Word document which contained tips for future students volunteering with UABs Healing Words Program.
I created a resource list for college students about resources to help with the impacts of the COVID-19. The list includes technology, financial assistance, mental health and stress management; health care, and other resources.
I completed mandated reported training for adult abuse and received a certificate of completion.
