This experience was exciting! We cooked a full meal for the less fortunate people at our church and in the community. We also took donations all week for members to bring canned goods so that they will have something to eat after the event.

I had the opportunity to bake cupcakes with a group of volunteers. We took the cupcakes to the women's shelter in honor of my mothers anniversary of her death. She loved to give to women's shelters so we took cupcakes and donated her winter clothes to the women. I was able to spend some time with them and get to hear their experiences and triumphs.
I mentored with an After School Program of elementary school Taekwondo Students. I taught some of them how to read with interactive audio books and the older ones with challenging projects. For example, the students had to produce a 1 minuet YouTube video with the categories Sports, Pop Culture and Politics. They did their own research on these current events and presented them. I usually mentor the children when I leave school for a 2 hours Monday-Friday.
I help children ages 5-10 complete homework after school, pick them up from school and take them to after school care. We host parades, movie nights and Teakwood tournaments for children.
We held a two day study session for the students that would be taking the SAT, ACT and finals. We tutored them and served as college mentors for them over this period of time.
I helped put together an Easter Sunday Program where children throughout the city of Birmingham came together, painted Easter eggs, sang songs and said speeches for their family and friends.
I helped put together the Martin Luther King Day Program. We helped kids with there speeches and taught them valuable information about African American history and culture.
Helped Urban Bicycle clean up and organize their business in hopes that delivering food to the homeless will be more efficient.
Organized lunch for homeless men, women, and children for thanksgiving.
Tutoring Refugee children while their parents are at work or school.
