Arrived at 1:00 pm on Friday and helped prepare for 3 families to go through an advent, Christ-focused weekend. Helped stay after and clean up left at 2:00 pm on Sunday. Organized and set up for the families, helped serve food and lead discussions for small groups. Gave a talk on how the advent period prepares us for Christ's birth. Helped wash dishes and clean up after the families left. Helped lead prayer services and general support for the weekend.
Volunteered with Marianist LIFe a national faith-formation program rooted in Catholic and Marianist tradition and targeted to the needs of high school students. LIFE offers students an opportunity for fellowship and fun in a caring, upbeat context. We met starting in May once every couple of weeks. I was able to help out as one of two Marianist young adult representatives, who acted as counselors. Stayed at Tecaboca, gave a talk, led multiple sessions, taught lessons of the Marianists every day. Worked with Marianist educators from all over the nation.
A little awkward at first but eventually everything started coming naturally and it was awesome talking to these kids. I really just want to shout and show them how awesome Jesus and the Holy Spirit is but I don't want to come off too crazy or intense. I hope I can impact at least one person.
The other leaders and super fun and really great at communicating! Best four hours ever.
