I volunteered at the Fayetteville Animal Shelter. This was probably the greatest two hours of my life. You can quickly tell these cats did not get out much and wanted to be free for a bit. I played with kittens for the most part. Fed them and cleaned their cages, mostly dumping cat litter and changing it. I got a couple scratches but it was worth it. Even thought about adopting one towards the end. This was not done today, however! I could not remember the exact date I went, but I went with my girlfriend because she invited me along. It was on a Saturday.
The goal of the volunteer project was to clean up any exotic plant life surrounding the watershed of Fayetteville. Which I learned we are in the White River watershed that flows into Beaver Lake. We chopped down trees and bushes that were not native to the Ozarks and cleaned the creek that runs through Walker Park. It was more of a manual labor volunteer project. We also spread native seeds where we took out the exotic plant life so it will grow there instead.
