Once you have registered for the training, an agenda with the Go To Meeting link will be emailed to you before the training begins (you will not receive an email instantly). Y You DO NOT have to register for all trainings. Only one training is necessary, unless you would like to get an advanced certification. In this case, you would register for Basic and Advanced. For Tax Preparer Training, hard copies of the training materials that you will need before you participate in the virtual training will be available beginning on Monday, November 30th under the awning at the United Way building (3600 8th Avenue South, Birmingham, 35222). These materials and will be left out overnight for those that may be dropping by after UWCA’s office closes. Once you receive your materials, you can email me to let me know you have picked them up. They will also be provided online, if you have access to a printer, to print a copy of the test to refer to during training. Below you will see the links of what Judy would like you to print for the train and other helpful resources that are optional. Please let me know if you have any questions and I will be glad to assist you! Print the attached documents, and the select and print sections of the test that you plan to take - https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f6744.pdf Other resources to refer to, but don’t have to print. Volunteer Resource Guide - https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p4012.pdf Tax Center Greeters: You DO NOT need to register for training at this time, as this training will be a recorded training with links to study guides and everything needed for the certification. Tax Preparers role once IRS certified will work one-on-one with clients to file their taxes through United Way's Tax Center. Volunteers engage with clients and ask questions to ensure accurate and complete returns are filed. Throughout the process, volunteer preparers have access to on-site tax specialists to answer questions related to filing returns. As a volunteer, you will choose days and times that best fit your schedule. If you want to volunteer throughout the year, opportunities are available as well. COVID-19 Precautions: As a Tax Preparation volunteer you will work at the United Way office, but have the option to choose whether or not you interact face-to-face with clients. Many clients will submit their documents online without visiting the United Way building. Customers who need to drop off documents in person will be required to wear masks, for a brief socially distant appointment separate from the preparation area. |
