SU Food Recovery Network

About

The Food Recovery Network is a national nonprofit that unites students at colleges and universities to fight food waste and hunger by recovering perishable food that would otherwise go to waste from their campus dining halls and donating it to those in need. Our goal is to change the norm from food waste to food recovery in the United States. This is Seattle University's chapter recognized through the national Food Recovery Network. We are currently donating surplus food to Operation Sack Lunch (https://www.oslserves.org/) and looking to expand the volunteer network and on-campus opportunities to increase the food security of students and community members.

We are connecting with our campus community by packing, delivering, and tracking surplus food donations from Cherry Street Marketplace to the on campus food pantry located in the OMA office.

Students can either join the leadership team for course credit or can be a volunteer member. Volunteers can work on campus packaging and delivering food to OMA or can work with our community partner, Operation Sack Lunch.
