Southern Pines Animal Shelter

We are Southern Pines Animal Shelter, and we are glad you are considering joining our lifesaving team of staff and volunteers.  At Southern Pines staff and volunteers work together in pursuit of our lifesaving work.  Our mission is to provide humane shelter for homeless and lost cats and dogs, provide affordable spay/neuter and healthy pet services, encourage adoptions and educate the community about responsible pet ownership.

Since 2017 we have operated as the state's largest open-admission animal shelter to reach "no-kill" status.  Healthy and treatable animals are never euthanized to save on space or time at our shelter.  In 2018 alone, we took in 8,136 pets and maintained a lifesaving rate of 96.7%.  Volunteers are one of the pillars that support our lifesaving mission and make this possible.

Volunteers increase our capacity for care and extend our reach.  It is only through community supporters that we are able to continue on our lifesaving mission.  We hope that you'll join the Southern Pines family.

Please attend an orientation before volunteering.
