Bush Hills Academy

Birmingham-Southern College students have worked for many years with Woodrow Wilson, which has now merged into a K-8 school called Bush Hills Academy. Currently, BSC students participate in tutoring and mentoring as well as organizing monthly Student of the Month parties. Volunteer tutors usually tutor 1-2 times a week for an hour at a time. BSC students help kids improve their educational understandings, but they also have the pleasure of building new relationships and making new friends. Each month, Bush Hills and Birmingham-Southern honor students who have excelled in a certain character trait, such as honesty or caring. BSC students host a pizza party honoring a student from each class who has been identified by their teacher as the Student of the Month. Volunteers serve food, provide certificates, and facilitate activities and games
