Title: ESL Teacher Major Objectives:
1. Teach English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to adult participants Major Responsibilities:
1. Plan and execute a field trip with the students. Program coordinator will provide instructions and support.
2. Identify students for end-of-term awards. Assist in and participate in the last day of class celebration, including handing out certificates of completion to students. Qualifications: 1. Transportation (by personal car or bus) is necessary. 2. Native English speakers preferred. 3. No teaching experience is required; Ability to speak Spanish is also not required. Training/Preparation: 1. Attend orientation session given by Program Coordinator prior to the first day of class. The orientation takes about two hours and depending on the time, lunch or dinner is provided. 2. On-going support is provided by Program Coordinator in regard to lesson planning, classroom management and any other questions that may arise. 3. A background check is required. Time/Place: 1. A total of 5 hours of class time per week is required, two days per week (Mondays and Wednesdays from 6pm to 8:30pm), 2.5 hours each day. 2. 1 hour per week of lesson preparation. 3. Place of service: Centro San Juan Diego, 2830 Lawrence Street, Denver, CO 80205 Length of Commitment: A commitment of 3 months is required. Supervision: 1.
