Wednesday Vaccination volunteers (non-medical)

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2021 from 8:30am to 4:00pm

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with vaccination efforts. Volunteer support is key to getting vaccines to the greatest number of people in our area.

Shifts and roles:
This group is for volunteers ages 18 and older from the general public and no medical experience is required. Shifts are approximately 3.5 hours long and require walking/standing for long periods of time. The roles are simple, but they are critical to make sure the site runs effectively. You will be trained at the beginning of your shift so you know how to complete your task. Roles during your shift may include screening for appointments, completing paperwork, transporting materials, directing traffic, and refilling supplies.

Training and PPE
Briefings, training and PPE distribution will occur near the supply tent (just south of the big white shot tent). Training will begin promptly at the beginning of your shift time.
Please wear a mask. Any other PPE will be provided.

On-time arrival:
We need your help - please be punctual for your shift. It is extremely important that you arrive at the supply tent at the beginning of your shift so all volunteers can be trained and placed at their stations. Please allow extra time to locate parking and to walk to the check in area.

Weather and clothing:
This vaccination site takes place entirely outdoors in the back parking lot of Germantown Baptist Church. Please make sure to dress for the weather (temperature and precipitation), wear sturdy shoes, and bring a mask. More info in the FAQs below

Notifications & Cancellations:
  • If we need to cancel: Please note that due to the unpredictable nature of vaccine distribution, shifts may be cancelled on short notice. Please make sure to check your email or this website for the latest information about your shift in case there is a last minute cancellation. We appreciate your patience and flexibility.
  • If you need to cancel: If you sign up for a shift, we are counting on you to come. If you are unable to make your shift, please let us know as soon as possible by logging into this system and cancelling your position. Doing so allows us to adjust or add someone from the waiting list.

  • Do general volunteers (non-medical) get the vaccine at the end of their shift?
    • While there is no guarantee that volunteers will receive the vaccine, there is a possibility that a small number of doses left at the end of the day may be available to volunteers. We will continue to update this section with the most current information about vaccines for volunteers.
  • Is there a place to secure my belongings?
    • Volunteers should plan to leave valuables at home or keep important items on their person (in pockets, backpacks, etc). We do not have a location to secure personal items.
  • Are there bathrooms on site?
    • Yes there are temporary restrooms in the parking lot. There are also permanent bathroom facilities in the volunteer parking area.
  • Is this site only vaccinating people in Germantown?
    • No, the Germantown vaccination site is a regional site and is open to anyone who schedules an appointment through the Shelby County Health Department. Only those with appointments will be admitted for vaccinations.
  • What COVID precautions are in place?
    • All volunteers, staff, and patients will be masked throughout the process and patients will remain in their cars at all times. Please plan to bring a mask. All other PPE will be provided during training.
  • Is there anything else I should know?
    • We are grateful for your help! Thank you for volunteering your time for vaccination efforts.
