About

Are you interested in making connections with students who have transitioned from a different college? Do you want to assist students in navigating the huge institution of Portland State and connect them to important resources? Would you like to have coffee over Zoom and listen to the successes and challenges a transfer or returning student may face ? Then join the MAPS Program and become a peer connection navigator!

The Transfer and Returning Student Resource Center is starting a Peer Connection Network program designed to help transfer and returning students smoothly transition to PSU and increase the likelihood of building a sense of belonging, identity, and community-building by pairing them with a peer who might have once been in their shoes. By joining this new and exciting program, you will have the opportunity to work with students who may be  encountering challenges in their academic lives and help them create a path forward. You will be able to work one on one, or in small groups, with a diverse student population and play an important role in their academic and overall student success. You will also have the opportunity to receive training on interpersonal dynamics, conflict resolution, counseling skills, and resource navigation. Join this program and meet other like minded students interested in volunteerism and mentorship. Based on our current circumstances, this program is online only and will not have any events in person. There may be changes in the future.
