Help at an event (or more than one!)

Open Opportunity

About

Knowbility is an internationally-known nonprofit that hosts several online and onsite events throughout the year, such as the Accessibility Internet Rally (AIR) and AccessU. These activities can be training events involving several hundred people, lively receptions with around 50 people, awards ceremonies and more. Often, they are broadcast live online as they happen. These events are intense, fun and highly educational regarding digital inclusion, accessibility and human rights. Knowbility also hosts a one-hour invitation-only breakfast event. VIPs hear brief presentations about our organization over breakfast.

We need Austin, Texas area -based volunteers to help with a range of support activities for these events that happen in Austin. Maybe you want to help just the night of a reception. Maybe you want to help during an entire conference. Maybe you want to help set up the room for one of our monthly VIP breakfasts (on the afternoon before the event). Maybe you want to attend guests at a VIP breakfast, helping to set up food, attend guests, and break down afterwards (8 am to 11 am). Maybe you want to help with the preparation for a major training event - helping to brainstorm potential event spaces, recommend food and drink vendors, helping to reach out to event hosts or vendors, etc. Maybe you want to take photos for an event we can use on our website and social media later. Maybe you want to help at just one event - or several. Whatever your interest and schedule, we have opportunities for you to help support our events.

If you sign up for this opportunity, we will email you directly whenever we have opportunities regarding an event coming up, giving you plenty of time to decide if the dates and times and time commitment required (can vary from a few hours one day to a few hours several days) and tasks are right for you.

You also are responsible for your own transportation.

This is a good opportunity for people interested or experienced in event management, who have a passion for supporting people with disabilities, who have a passion regarding quality and human rights, who believe strongly in "tech4good" and/or have an interest in nonprofit management. People need community service hours are welcomed to apply as well. This can also be viewed as microvolunteering, since you can volunteer just once at an event and don't have to make any ongoing commitment.

And if we're feeding people at an event, you bet you get to eat too!
