Summer Internship with Children's Healing Art Project (CHAP)

Saturday, June 1st from 8:00am to Saturday, August 31st, 2019 12:00pm (PT)

About

Children's Healing Art Project (CHAP) is currently accepting applications for Summer interns. Summer Internships are designed to give interns direct hands-on experience in CHAP studio art programs. Interns will help plan, develop and implement two art projects for an inclusive audience ages 6-13. In addition to leading individual projects, interns will assist with project set up and clean up, workshop flow and behavior management, as well as other tasks as assigned.  CHAP is seeking interns with strengths in child care, class room management, facilitating art and working with special needs populations. Internships are voluntary and unpaid. We will work with you if you need school credit, but it is not a necessity for an internship at CHAP.

Prospective interns should be organized with great attention to detail and enthusiastic about CHAP's mission and the healing power of art.  (An art background is not a requirement.) They should have the desire to wear many hats while spreading our mission to the children and families we serve.

Requirements: Scheduling is flexible before and after summer workshops in June and August, 6 hours (minimum) is required during these non-workshop weeks. During workshop weeks, June 26-28, + July 29 - August 15, 12 hours (minimum) are required from Monday-Thursday. Additional hours are welcome! Internships take place at our Sellwood Portland studio headquarters.

To apply: Please send a letter of intent specifying your area of focus plus your current resume and the contact info of 3 professional references to jobs@chappdx.org with “CHAP Summer Internship” in the subject line. CHAP is accepting applications until May 26th.
