Lyndon House Arts Center seeks an enthusiastic, creative and highly organized intern to assist with all aspects of LHAC's Art Education Program.
 
The Art Education Intern is a part-time (volunteer) position that reports to the Art Education Specialist. The primary responsibilities of this position are to assist in the administration of LHAC's arts education programming (primarily with youth).
 
Volunteers provide organizational, administrative, and on-site support for Summer Art Camp programs, after-school programs, special events, and other activities. Duties include preparation of program materials, research, correspondence, filing, cleaning, organizing supplies and materials.  Also, assisting lead teachers and group leaders with class prep and in the classroom with children.  
 
Volunteers should have excellent organizational skills, basic computer skills, and should be comfortable interacting with the public and specifically with children as young as 4 years old (and their parents).
 
To ensure the quality of Leisure Services Department programs and the safety of their participants, volunteers are subject to a background screening.  Volunteers in ongoing direct contact with vulnerable populations (e.g. children under the age of 18, developmentally disabled persons, the frail, or the elderly) must have a background screening conducted as stipulated by Leisure Services Volunteer Policy and Procedures. Upon registering for these positions, a background screening is required by the Leisure Services Department. The screening program is at no cost to our volunteers and is valid for one calendar year.

The Arts Education Department at Lyndon House Arts Center is dedicated to providing high-quality arts education curriculum and enrichment to youth, adults, and teens in the Athens area. We host adult evening classes, workshops, after-school youth classes, 3 Teen Clubs, and a comprehensive summer arts camp experience.  The Arts Center includes 7 professional-level art studios including Painting/Drawing, Printmaking, Fiber, Photography, Ceramics, Sculpture, and Jewelry/Metals. There is a separate children's wing with wonderful facilities, a covered outdoor work court used as an outdoor studio and grassy lawns.

The Ware-Lyndon Historic House is open Thursday – Saturday 10 am – 5 pm.  

Lyndon House Arts Center is a facility of the Arts Division, in the Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services department.

The Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County is a public entity that is subject to Georgia's Open Records laws.
